Impact of Inflation on Footfall

In March 2023, the annual inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages reached a peak at 19.2%, marking the highest annual rate in over 45 years according to the ONS. As a result, a decline in footfall during March was evident across various regions in the UK. The most substantial decrease since the beginning of the year was observed in the Southwestern region.
